Roofing archeology 101…

There are five layers of shingles on this part of the roof. The top layer is a light gray 3-tab. Below that is a layer of white 3-tab. Then, below that is this weird green layer with “stepped” edging and “wood grain” indent lines…

A little closer look at the “stepped” edging and “wood grain” indent lines. Note that there are no vertical seams. Apparently, this came in long rolls…

While the main color is green, there is also a lot of blue, red, and gold mixed in…

Hard to image that the entire house had this at one time…

The next layer is also green, but with pointed edges…

This also appears to have been long rolls, and not separate pieces like modern shingles…
