We finally got tired of looking at the ugly blue wallpaper in this room. We had heard that there were murals painted on the walls, and we’d always been curious to see what they looked like…

This one is to the right of the bay windows and looks like a hand fan, attached to the wall with a little strap. We’re not sure who the woman is; maybe the original owner’s wife, Charlotte? One interesting thing about this mural is the use of “glitter” in some of the paint. I’m guessing it was done to pick up the light from the gas fixtures at the time?

Between the fan painting and the bay windows. Not sure why someone would paint a faux shelf with a vase sitting on it?

Above the three bay windows. Appears to be a faux picture rail, with pansies above it.

This is opposite the other faux shelf. It’s too bad that most of the paint is gone. It looks to have been a completely different vase design from the other one.

Another hand fan, to the left of the bay windows. this one features a butterfly or moth.

This one looks to be a framed painting, but it’s been painted over. In order to see what’s actually there, we’ll need to try and scrape off the top layers of paint. A task for another day…
