Ready to begin cutting the miters…

First, I used this cool tool to measure the angle, which also tells you the proper degree you need to set for your miter saw…

Saw angle set for first cut…

Second cut on other piece, and they line up really nice…

First post skirt all mitered…

Second post skirt all mitered…

Third post skirt all mitered…

And, the fourth post skirt all mitered…

When this PVC material is cut, it exposes the “not so smooth” interior. So, the top raw cut will now get some primer to help smooth it all out…

All primed…

When the primer was dry, it got sanded smooth…

Then, all of the pieces got a second coat of primer…

The skirts will be painted the dark green color (Woodford). To help make these more weatherproof, I’ll be using the door & trim paint…

The angled top part was painted first…

After the first coat dried, it got a second coat…

At this point, the bottom part was also painted…

When the paint was dry, I started working on installation…

Installation of these is a bit difficult. I don’t want to nail them into the post base, so I’m having to try and keep them aligned using clamps. After quite a bit of wrestling with them, I finally got the first one installed…

I’ll be using this paintable silicone caulk to seal of all of the seams…

The first one, all of the seams caulked…

The second one, installed…

The second one, all of the seams caulked…
