If I’m going to repair this Porch correctly, I need to gain access to the framing that attaches to the Main House. In order to do that, I need to remove the ceiling…

The cove moulding has to be removed first. This first piece put up quite a fight…

The location of that first piece that was removed.

So much paint. It’s no wonder it was hard to remove. Note the original blue ceiling paint…

Removing the remaining cove moulding…

Now, to remove the old beadboard ceiling…

I got enough removed to try and get a peak up inside. What will I find?

It’s pretty much EMPTY up here..

I was expecting to find a lot of animal nests, and such…

Time to remove this old nasty light fixture…

After removing the base, a lot more of the original blue ceiling color…

This is the back framing of the Porch roof. That light shining through, shouldn’t be. It’s now more apparent just how far the front of the Porch roof has settled. There’s probably almost two inches of space up there…

The old light socket, completely removed…

The remaining beadboard, removed. Note the light shining through at the top peak of the Porch roof…

The old beadboard…
