This corner has been damaged for quite a while, but there have just been so many other pressing issues that I kept putting it on the back burner. Last winter, we caught some mice in the basement, and then about a month ago, I caught another one. Looking closer at this area, I’m thinking this is where they’re getting in. So, time to fix it!
The damage on this corner doesn’t seem to be as bad as it was on the other back corner. But, until I start digging into it, I can’t say for sure…
With all of the loose bricks removed, I’ve confirmed that the damage doesn’t go as deep as the other side. So, this should be a fairly quick fix…
I rebuilt the interior using the original bricks and new mortar. Now, once this dries, I can add the finishing layer of parging.
