I was on the roof, working on the access system for the Main House chimney rebuild, and happened to look over the edge and noticed the suspension wire bracket was only being held by one screw!

The top two screws, had completely pulled out of the wall. All of the tension was now being held only by the bottom screw…

I need to get the bracket pulled back up into position. So, my solution was to mount an eye bolt just above and to the left of the old hole…

Then, I tied a rope to the bracket and fed it through the eye bolt. I also drilled the holes a little deeper, and bought new lag bolts that were longer than the originals.

My neighbor then pulled on the rope, which caused the bracket to pivot back up to where it should be, while I stayed on the ladder to put a new bolt into the top hole. After the first new bolt was tightened down in the top hole, I replaced the old center bolt with a new one, and then removed the old bottom bolt, drilled that hole deeper, and then added a new bolt in the bottom.

The bracket is now much more securely attached to the wall of the house. Looking back at an older post, you can actually see the bracket wasn’t secured flat to the wall. Just one of those things you don’t think of to check…
