Since the wind is howling at 50-60 mph, with no end in sight, I may as well try to get something done inside…

I been a bit scared to start this part of the project, because I’ve never built anything like this. But, I decided to finally try to build the first two drawers…

I need eight pieces, that are 22 inches long, that will make up the sides of the drawers…

This is the first cut. I placed a block on the saw to use as a “stop” to try and get all my cuts to be the same…

All of the side pieces have been cut…

The eight side pieces…

Next, I cut the fronts and backs…

These four pieces are 10 7/16 inches long…

To make the joints, I’ll have to use a dado set. I’ve never use one, so this will be a learning experience…

I’ll remove the regular blade and install the correct combination of blades in the dado set…

This combination gives me the 1/4 inch width cut…

Confirming the 1/4 inch width cut…

Confirming the 1/4 inch depth of cut…

Everything all set and ready…

First cut. Seems to be fine…

I then made the first cut on the remaining pieces. This the groove that will hold the bottom panel in place. The side cuts were then made, which enable the pieces to be joined.

I now need to cut the bottoms from the 1/4 inch thick plywood…

Cut to the correct width…

And length…

All of the pieces, ready to be assembled…

The first drawer, assembled, glued, and clamped…

The first drawer, after the glue dried. Not too bad…

The second drawer, assembled, glued, and clamped…
