I’ve been needing to add an extra receptacle down in the basement to plug our Yarna Device into so that it’s not using an extension cord…

I picked up this junction box cover a while back, and I have a stash of receptacles…

The first thing is to remove the little “tab” things…

Make sure to retain the “tabs” you will need them later…

As you can see, the receptacle doesn’t fit the cover, as is…

The little “ear tabs” need to be removed where they are scored…

They are easily removed with a pair of pliers…

The “ear tabs” have been removed. Note that you can throw these away…

The receptacle should now fit into the cover…

The receptacle, as viewed from the front side…

The next step is to remove the screws from the receptacle…

This is where those little “tabs” come into play…

They are threaded, so you use them with the screws to secure the receptacle to the cover…

The first screw completed…

And, both screws completed…

This is the junction box that will get the new cover…

The existing wiring inside the junction box…

To add the new receptacle, I just need to pigtail to the existing wiring…

With the connections completed, the new receptacle is fully functional…

The Yarna now has a new place to be plugged in…
