Because we live fairly close to the path of the band of totality, we traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska to witness it. This put us almost directly on the center line of totality.

TOTALITY! Beautiful solar corona.

In this shot, you can actually see the planet, Mercury (the faint object that looks like a star, close to the left edge of the photo).

There was about two minutes of totality, and then the Sun began to reappear from the other side…

If you ever have the opportunity to witness a total solar eclipse, do it. It’s definitely near the top of the list of the most moving things I’ve ever experienced…
