Parlor – The Restoration (Phase 1.2) – Fireplace Hearth Edging

We purchased some oak veneer at Menard’s to use for the edging of the hearth.  The first thing I had to do was to route out the area so that the veneer would sit flush with the oak floor.  I used my dremel tool with a router attachment.  The areas I couldn’t get to with the dremel were done using a chisel.

Area all routed out and ready for the veneer.

The veneer installed.  The veneer had heat activated glue, so you just cut it to size, then use a household iron to heat and press it down.

The veneer stained.  We stained it the cherry color that the wood work in the room will eventually be stained as well.
